Good afternoon sir. I'm intending to replace the diamond you used for my resurrection a while back, and 'no it's fine' is not acceptable, it is not fine. I'm going to replace it. However I don't know the exact parameters required to replace it. What was its size, clarity, etc?

[That is not a proper replacement, and dragging Donatello out all the way to the river to find an exact replacement when one wasn't needed..]

I have already enlisted aid with some expertise under the parameters of finding an exact replacement. I don't mind finding more as well as I imagine many will be located, but I would prefer at least one being a proper substitute, or I've wasted his time for nothing.

[In the meantime there's probably two very intelligent idiot teenagers rummaging around in a magical enchanted river stubbornly looking for rocks. He really can't tell the difference on a glance a diamond from any other clear gemstone so Donnie's help is absolutely vital.]

Oh a picture that's very helpful, thank you.

I'm pretty sure we'll be able to find quite a few before nightfall, both actual size and smaller. Were there other ones you might need?

Please don't ask for black fire opal, I've never seen a single one here.

[Added is a photo, knee-deep in water, of the Encantado's glittering gem riverbed. There's plenty to choose from, if you're a professional.

And a tiny pile of vividly striped agates. Ignore those.]

[Pauses mean more time rummaging around in the water. Thankfully relics don't mind getting a bit wet.]

I saw one in a photo once, I'd like to see if they actually look that way. But so far, no luck at all. Very disappointing, in that kind of way that means I probably spend too much time in this river.

Note made! Hopefully Donatello's able to tell apart a ruby from a red beryl, I certainly won't be able to. With some luck we'll be able to find at least a couple that will be of use.

If I have to make it myself that entirely removes the point of the venture. There's no mystery or surprise if you just use lore! I have found the reality of some gemstones is far beyond what my poor imagination could conjure up. Especially the multicolored ones.

You never struck me as the sort to do experimenting of that sort. I'll see what else we can find, there's an entire riverbed to dig through after all.

:)

A little bit of exploring new things never hurts. I don't know a lot about alchemy but it seems to be one of those things that only gets anywhere if people try new things.

Compared to the lifespans of some I haven't had long in solitude, but somehow it seems when all you can hear is your own thoughts somehow they only echo doubts and fears. I'm glad you've found ways to keep occupied.

If this were just a couple weeks later..

I admit my idea of what qualifies as herbalism would have excluded experimentation beyond trying for a new flower color and the like.

Idle whim is the reasoning today, though I admit the location isn't by accident. The Encantado is a nice day trip for concerns to be lessened, and my traveling companion seems like he can use it.

temporarily being doing ok isn't bad at least!

"Mostly" is good enough for me.

I'll keep that in mind. For now things are going well though, solitude aside. One of us will come visit with the spoils of this venture soon enough.
