[Caduceus pauses, then, and furrows his brows. His eyes gleam briefly silver, activating- ah. Ghost? Ghost. Interesting.
There and gone for but a second, and his smile is the same as before, just less confused now, and he reaches out to accept and shake the offered hand.]
[Ghost! The hand shaken is solid, a bit cold, with an almost aura of staticky air around the fingers, not entirely unlike an old tv screen, not that Caduceus would entirely know that sensation.]
Wotcher, Caduceus, [Charles noticed that quick flash of silver to eyes, and couldn't help but perk in a curiously interested manner.] Your eyes went all shiny there a minute, are you a psychic?
[He doesn't sound upset by the idea at least.] Crystal's eyes do that when she's doin' her whole thing but they go all white not silver- she's brills, still gettin' to know her back home but I'm sure we'll be super good mates in no time-
[Someone might be a bit of a chatterbox. If Caduceus makes to move, Charles will follow along easily at his shoulder, unless a definitive farewell is given.]
[What a chatty man. It's charming, honestly. And Caduceus does still have some shopping to do, so he's more than happy to walk alongside him and listen.]
Not psychic, no. Actually, eyes changing colour is an aspect of one of the roles we're given here. On occasion it might give away one's emotions or mental state.
[Which is true for legends, something he is, thus it's not a lie, hah. (Because he's still terrible at lying.)]
[For someone who's dead? Charles is a very lively sort, especially with someone to bounce off of that was willing to indulge him.]
Oh! That's a... [A few finger clicks as he goes over what he'd learned so far here, brightening when he recalled.] A legend thing, yeah?
[It had made him at least a little relieved that he'd ended up a Myth himself- his strangely dark eyes didn't seem to be a common trait, but they did wonders for masking his emotions. But that was a bit contradicted by the misty horns and tail- the latter of which was a ridiculous tell.]
Edwin and I are still gettin' used to it all, place is pretty wild but folk seem pretty friendly too which is brills! [A curious little tilt of his head as he considered his conversation buddy.] You been here long? What're your thoughts on it?
[Caduceus nods along, watching him with a curious and ever-observant eye. Quite cheerful for a ghost, this one. Is that simply his nature, or is he happy to be more "alive" in this world, so to speak? It's so interesting.
Sounds like he has a friend here already. That's good.]
It's been a long time since I first got here, yeah. Nearly two years, I think? It's a strange world, but no stranger than where I came from. It has pros and cons, depending on your situation. I'd like to go back, I've got things that need doing, but that doesn't seem to be my fate.
Two years? [He whistles quietly at that, brows lifting at the thought of it.] Blimey, but that's a long time innit? I mean, to be stuck somewhere anyways.
[Time was a little weird sometimes when you were a ghost- the passage of it hit differently, but even with that he could imagine it wasn't the easiest to deal with, especially with things to get home to.]
I hear that though, got a case to think about, but if I just wind up back where I started like folk were sayin' then that's alright. Can just use the extra time to cook up some potential solutions yeah? [He can't help but laugh, a wry thing.] Granted if it was just me here, I don't think I'd be nearly so calm about it. When I first showed up, couldn't find Edwin anywhere, had only been a few hours and I was about to go spare!
[Well, well. Two mentions in under as many minutes is worth asking about, clearly.]
Edwin's a friend of yours, I'm assuming? It's nice that you've got someone here with you.
[Most people aren't so fortunate to have a fellow they know right at the start. He knows he was lucky in that sense as well, though maybe it's best not to mention that, considering that was a long time ago. It doesn't mean those familiar faces will be around forever.]
[Charles isn't especially one to hide his nature usually. Back home, most people who don't know about ghosts can't see him so it's typically a moot point, and aside from that he's not typically one for too much deceit.]
Longer than I was alive, that's for sure! [Way more than best mate level, not that Charles has especially realized that yet.]
But yeah, I lucked out for sure. Only been away from him... oh a few hours here and there usually? Was losin' my marbles about the idea, ready to go fight Thirteen over it before I found him in the greenhouses, entirely by chance.
That's quite a while! If you've had such fine company for a long time, I can see why you'd be so cheerful.
[Most ghosts go mad because they're alone and traumatized after death, incapable of touch or normal interactions with people (the kind where you get to talk instead of being screamed at or fled from).]
Yeah! Honestly, was about the best thing that happened to me!
[A beat, a wry little laugh.]
Not the dyin' that bit was pretty bollocks, but if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met Edwin, yeah? Got a best mate and a job I'm aces at, got every reason to be havin' a good time.
[What a friendly fellow. Undead business aside, Caduceus finds him charming.]
Oh, just a little shopping. Nothing that interesting, but sometimes I like to venture out to this area for ingredients. They carry different things here than in Willow.
[He's experimenting with flavours, and you don't get the longer-lasting packaged stuff in the fresh market like you do in Epiphany. He's a fresh guy himself for the most part, but you can't experiment without trying new things.]

Caduceus, it's a pleasure.

Edwin's my best mate. Absolutely brills, I dunno what I would've done if he didn't show up. Been together... oh, decades now!
no subject
[If he hadn't already sussed out the ghost thing, he'd sure have checked right about now. And best mate somehow feels like an understatement...]
It's a rarity that people from the same world arrive together on day one. That's fortunate for you.

[Not a great potential to be reaching, really, so it's for the best.
And huh. Well, if he's going to just come right out and say it, then...]
How long have you been a ghost, if you don't mind my asking?
no subject
[No one wants to see him off his head like that. It's not a good time for anyone.]
Don't mind at all! S'been about... oh thirty-five years now?

[Obviously he does, since he just listed them.]

[Charles cheerfully leaned to let his shoulder bump lightly against Caduceus' arm, a companionable sort of thing, tail swinging happily.]
So! What're you up to, aside from rescuin' hapless ghosts from refrigerators and all?
